Are your products Energy Star rated?

A
Yes. Our products are tested and certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). They meet or exceed energy star requirements when ordered with glazing options.

Q
What is Low-E/Argon filled glass?

A
Low Emissivity (Low-E) glass features microscopic layers of silver and titanium dioxide, which dramatically increase the thermal performance of your windows during summer and winter. Available as a performance option, we offer Solarban® 60 Low-E glass from PPG, the industry’s technology leader.

Argon is a clear, odorless and non-toxic gas that reduces the thermal conductivity of the airspace between the glass layers. Available as a performance option, argon gas improves thermal performance in both summer and winter months, for the ultimate in energy efficiency.

Q
I have an old home. Can I get odd sized windows to fit my openings?

A
Our windows are custom made to fit your existing openings. This eliminates the need for changing the opening to accomodate the window without having to make structural changes in your home.

Q
What are the advantages of custom replacement windows over pre-made, standard-size windows stocked at home centers and lumber yards?

A
Because custom windows are made to fit, they provide the best energy efficiency and makes for an easy installation.

Standard size windows(that you would find in a home center) typically cost less in the beginning, but other expenses and factors such as additional labor, siding and dry wall far outweigh the original savings. In addition, custom-made windows allow you to choose the best solutions for your window replacement.

Question
What causes condensation on windows?

Answer
Condensation, or "sweating," is a natural occurrence on all windows and is caused by excess humidity, or invisible water vapor, present in the air. When this water vapor comes in contact with a surface which is at a cooler temperature, the vapor turns to visible droplets of moisture.

Each window has many features built in to keep the temperature of the glass as warm as possible and thus reduce condensation. Our insulating glass units provide superior energy efficiency to reduce the potential for condensation. However, there is no such thing as a condensation-free window in high humidity conditions. Controlling the amount of moisture in your home is the most effective action you can take to avoid condensation.

Here are a few tips on reducing the moist air in your home:

•  Use fans in bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms to circulate the air. .

•  Air out your home frequently by opening doors and windows.

•  Reduce the number of indoor house plants, as plants increase humidity levels.

•

Use a dehumidifier to remove excess humidity from the air.
